Mr.R.Russel Timothy was born in Madurai and had his schooling from the Thiagarajar Model Higher Secondary School and graduated from the prestigious American College. He did his post-graduation from the Madura College. He had worked in the American College for 8 years as Senior Program Officer in the Applied Science department. He was deputed by the American College to study a Diploma program in Augmentative Technologies in USA for a period of 1 year during 1995-96.

Presently, he is a Professor atthe National Institute of Fashion Technology [NIFT] (Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India) since 1997 at Chennai in the Garment Technology department, holding additional charge as Director - SVPISTM. His areas of expertise are Ergonomics, Maintenance Management, Production and Operation Management, Technology for garment manufacturing, ERP, MIS, Organizational Behaviour, Entrepreneurship Management, Project Management and Professional Practices.

Mr.RusselTimothy, R. has registered for the Ph.D. program with the Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya in the area of “Nanotechnology – Nano finishes on cotton garments” which is an area of demand in the garment industry.He has been a very proactive faculty at NIFT and has taken up various responsibilities during his long teaching tenure such as Students’ Internships and Placements, International academic partnerships, Setting up of students’ labs and classrooms, Purchases andCampus networking and has also presented papers in many national and international conferences in addition to journal publications.

During his tenure as a Professor he has contributed to the curriculum development and development of teaching materials for the classroom. He had conducted educative workshops and actively carried out projects for the garment industry. As a teacher he wishes to pursue his dream of training and equipping students with the latest approaches.
